I have a new appreciation for the medical staff that work tirelessly taking care of our loved ones. Compassion, Support, Intellect, Witt, Courage, Strength are a few of their qualities that I witnessed while my father has been a patient for triple bypass. Thru his ups and downs they have been our rock. I applaud these individuals and would like to give high fives to the staff at the Sanford Hopsital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and his team of medical professionals here in Aberdeen, SD. Please everyone take time for your check ups!!!
These professionals are here to protect us and I love life. I like to play hard, work hard and I know my dad will be able to enjoy life to it’s fullest (at 82 years young)!!!

Posted in Foot News on 02/26/2010 02:21 pm by KathyOur Spring Clothing is arriving. The Girl’s are so excited to put this all out on the floor. This winter we have been carefully preparing what to showcase in the store. My children Kristen and Zachery headed to Outdoor Retailer Market in Salt Lake City. Their direction was to look for comfort clothing and footwear. Easy Lifestyle looks that compliment our lives, but are easy to wear day in and day out. Then my sister Shari and headed to Market in Mpls to the Gift Mart and the Apparel Shows looking for lines that can be worn at the office and for casual wear. We also spiced it up with a fewer dressy tops that can be worn with denim or dress outfits. Lines that are in this spring include: Sportif by Aventura, M Rena, Mystree, Tulle, Fidelity Denimn, Last Tango and Simply Detailed. So many more to come. Our little boutique is small, but offers great selection and choice. Unique one of a kind items to spice up your closet head to toe. I spend time daily looking for the next new item to offer our wonderful guests. Stop by and see us soon.
Long Winter’s Nap
Posted in Foot News on 02/20/2010 03:22 pm by KathyAs we crawl out this long winter’s nap we are ready for spring up here in the Dakota’s. The endless snow will turn into muddy pools, but hopefully the sun will shine high and dry up our country side. I am already dreading the muddy rugs and floors from boots and shoes scampering across the floor at home. Paw prints will need to be wiped up hourly. But the thought of fresh grass, trees budding and flowers peaking from beneath the earth is enough for me to say.
Come on let the fun of Spring begin.
South Dakota Spring
Posted in Foot News on 03/31/2009 07:33 pm by KathyWe were closed again today. I have lost count of how many days this winter/spring we have been down.
The most in our 30 year history. Today I spent time working and cleaning at home. Then when the electricity went down spent time reflecting and renewing. I sat at the piano and played for an hour. I can’t remember the last time I had real time to enjoy my music? My love is Christian music and Jazz.
I actually sing at our church in our worship band. This is my real time to get close to my lord. After this
I put on my ipod and did filing. Amazing what happens when the electricity is down. Reflection, real time.
In another note I am now on twitter. This has been an interesting journey. Follow us on twitter.com/BurMarShoes

Posted in Foot News on 02/26/2009 09:51 pm by KathyOur spring Dansko line is arriving. There is nothing more I like than wearing my Dansko’s.
My stapled clogs are a staple on my feet. I stand an average of 8 hours a day-I work 12 hour days usually. I just couldn’t survive with out these on my feet. I don’t have bad feet, but my knees are feeling the effects of 30 years of retail. The spring pattern of the french print are gorgeous and I can’t wait to have a pair on my feet. Now if we could get rid of the snow here in South Dakota. Today we received another 10 inches of snow, but by the weekend that can be melted and we can bring out the spring footwear.
Next week more sandals will arrive by Naot-one of my favorite cork footbed sandal companies. I love the narrow footbed, the beautiful styling and comfort by this line.
Stay tuned for more spring footwear. In today’s economy-I believe smart choices are in order. Buy comfort that will help you thru the long days at work, but also give you flexibility in today’s market. You can take either of these lines from work to play. I know everyone is working longer hours. Be safe and well. Take care of your feet-they are the only two you have.
Happy Valentine’s Day
Posted in Foot News on 02/14/2009 10:23 pm by KathyI hope everyone found a little sunshine in this Valentine’s Day. A little happiness. My husband and I took time to spend last evening at dinner, a movie at home and popcorn. The best. Today I spent time at the nursing home with my uncle. Spending time at the nursing home always brings a smile to his face.
I try to go and watch the news with him when I can a couple times a week. We don’t need to talk-just sitting together fills his time before dinner. Take time to make someone’s day a little brighter all year long. We all know life can be lonely. Reach out and touch someone. We all have a little time. I truly believe it makes our minds and hearts stronger.
Happy Valentine’s Day
Posted in Foot News on 02/06/2009 06:35 pm by KathyWe have added a fun little department to our store. It’s the chocolate corner. I call it the Sinfully good corner.
Saxon Chocolates offer belgian chocolates that are absolutely sinful under our gift ideas tab. Order now for delivery for that special day.
We have sweet stuffed puppies and teddy bears-bearing gifts of Bon Bons. These are a fabulous combination of truffle, fudge and brownie.
My favorite is the Fondue set for two by Saxon and if you are not a chocolate lover we have carmels for two. For your loved one this year-plan
a feel good event. Sweets to make us all feel good this long winter.
Enjoy.
The New 2009
Posted in Foot News on 01/23/2009 11:51 pm by KathyWow, What a year it has been already. We have had a true winter up here in South Dakota. It has been abundantly clear that this truly is the Dakotas-with snow and snow and more snow up here in the midwest-then add in very cold temps and wind-you have a true winter.
We haven’t had a winter like this for about 12 years. Personally I like snow and haven’t minded this weather. I dress for the cold wearing hats, scarves and boots that keep me warm when I am out in the elements. It also helps that my husband has blessed me with an automatic car starter that starts my car when I need and keeps me warm.
My favorite boots to wear to keep warm are my Aussie Dogs. These shearling boots have great traction for the icy conditions up here and keep my toes warm. I once froze my toes in the cold at our Hockey Rink (I forgot my boots) and since then I have not forgotten.
Then the next highlight was our new President this week. I have never witnessed my country grasp a new President as we have done this week. You can feel the testiment of our country that we truly want change-that we truly want to stand up and be held accountable. I urge you to get involved. Volunteer your time to help make our America a better place for all.
Back to Shoes: Watch for new spring styles to arrive. I have a team headed to Outdoor Retailers Market this week to pick up Spring Footwear and clothing for the store. In many parts of the country you have been blessed with warmer weather already. So sandals will be in our store and on the internet shortly. Check back often to see new opportunities. We know that our country is in very trying times, but our philosophy as a family owned shoe store and clothing boutique is to continue to offer you edgy but comfortable clothing and shoes. We will continue to head to markets to offer you the best value and eye popping fashion at a fabulous price. As a family we are committed to holding our prices and offering you values in these trying economic times. We look forward to working with you – our valued friends and clients in 2009.
Happy Thanksgiving
